Stepping out from behind the camera, Yoann Lemoine became one of the few music video directors to embark on a recording career of his own, with a number of releases under the guise of WOODKID.
Born in Lyon in 1983, he studied illustration and animation at the Emile Cohl School before landing jobs on Luc Besson's Arthur and the Invisibles and Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. In between shooting promos for the likes of Katy Perry ("Teenage Dream"), Taylor Swift ("Back to December"), and Lana Del Rey ("Born to Die," "Blue Jeans"), he recorded the Iron EP and the Run Boy Run EP. In 2013 WOODKID released his highly acclaimed debut album The Golden Age.
French artist WOODKID is coming back in 2020 with long awaited sophomore album! 7 years after a highly acclaimed first album « THE GOLDEN AGE » (800K sold worldwide, Platinum certified in both France and Germany, 200 shows around the world, 2 Grammy nominations and one French music academy award to only name a few), WOODKID comes back with a brand new track “Goliath” due to release in April 2020. In between musical projects, WOODKID has no rest and has been very active invarious creative domains, collaborating with Nicolas Ghesquière from Louis Vuitton, JR for the NYC Ballet, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui or Jonas Cuaron to write the original soundtrack of Desierto. Named after the well-known biblical character, “Goliath” is an epic poem carrying usaway and in the depth of the holistic forces each individual struggles with... “It’s about scale, about toxicity. About these insane industrial machines that represent so well my fear and ambiguous attraction for human madness. Here is the world I have built around Goliath, a world where the dominated can defeat the gigantic, theunbeatable.", says Yoann Lemoine.
